Holiday Cottage

Looking for a wonderful holiday cottage in Cornwall?

Caervallack Garden Cottage is an ancient cottage for two people set within a romantic walled garden.

Owned and designed by award-winning architect Matt Robinson, its peaceful atmosphere makes for a nurturing and restorative stay.

Location

The cottage is in the beautiful village of St Martin-in-Meneage, near Helston, on the Lizard Peninsula – a quiet and particularly beautiful part of Cornwall. The Helford river is within walking distance and there are 13 different beaches a short drive away. The garden has featured in most of the garden/house magazines over the last 20 years, most recently in the book “Secret Gardens of Cornwall” 2023.

Details

We’ve made a real effort to create a beautiful place using traditional building materials along with modern elements. The atmosphere is very relaxing, which guests really appreciate. The bed is very comfortable and has sheets with a very high thread count; the ensuite shower room is modern with Italian designer sinks and ceramic tiles and a unique keyhole window. Head height is 1.95m (6ft 6in) downstairs and 2.4m (8ft) upstairs.

Guest access

Guests have exclusive access to the the walled garden, designed and planted over the last 30 years. It is divided into seven different rooms which you are free to enjoy according to the sun. The pond garden opposite is a particular favourite, receiving direct sun all day and being entirely private. There are herbaceous borders, 50 varieties of roses, topiary, modern cob walls, a 54ft bridge and pentagonal meditation room. There are shared spaces with the owners – the car parking area and the meadow over the bridge.

Other things to note

• During peak season, mid July to August we ask guests to stay for a minimum of five nights.
• Changeover day is on a Friday.
• There are lots of good eating options and pubs within a few miles.
• Please note that unfortunately we don’t accept pets or children.
